fishing and laughter

WE have so many wonderful memories of Uncle George, many triggered again by looking at this lovely memorial site and it is so hard to comprehend, from the other side of the ocean, that he is no longer joining in the after dinner stories, with that fabulous booming laugh. A few summers ago we were watching George sitting squashed onto the small mooring at the bottom of our garden, trying to fish into the River Severn (with a child's fishing rod) insisting he was fine and all laughing so much. To everyone's amazement he caught a fish which non of us could name, it was the first (and last) fish any one caught with that rod! and it lived happily in our pond for a long while. XX
