I met George when he visited our family in Michigan many years ago, I was a young boy at the time. I remember he always had a huge smile and was very endearing. My Dad was John Richard Lissandrello, brother of Paul and Eugene. Michael G. Lissandrello

George was one of those individuals that one cannot forget. He was larger than life. We were business associates and George was never ambivalent. You always knew where he stood regarding an issue and it was a joy working with him and I will never forget the many occasions he entertained us with his singing, storytelling and general good humor. The world seems emptier without George and less joyful. He enriched everyone's life who knew him. What a blessing it is to have known him.

Joy and Nicole - I cannot express how sorry I was to hear about your father's passing. While I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him, I likewise had a grandfather who fought through leukemia for many years and saw the effects that it had on an ordinarily energetic and cantankerous man. When we were making the videos for the National Optimist Party, we had many sessions of recording. And each time we met I was impressed with George's great pride in his wife, June.

yesterday i went to a memorial service for my long time client and cherished friend george my business partner of ten years picked me up and we laughed on the way remembering we waited in a long slow line to walk into the church i don't know if numbers of people at a funeral indicate how loved someone is but yesterday i had to think that was true there was a lot of love in that sanctuary when we approached the guest book i started to sign in for my partner i stopped before i put ink to paper to ask if she wanted me to of course she did i knew that after all of these years together we had a rhythm we both knew i took a deep breathe and relaxed there is such a comfort in knowing and in being known my friend judy was an usher she wanted us to share the program as they were running out i knew i would want to keep mine i loved george i loved the photo the family selected it captured his essence when i saw the face of his children their grief was palpable i gasped when i looked into his daughter's eyes i honestly had to look away the eulogies were so george there was a lot of laughter and of course some tears all of life is this way bitter mixed with sweet i was happy to be there with the mourners saying good bye to a man who helped me on my journey who made me laugh there is no word to describe george he was unique beyond measure in the laughter at his shortcomings i found peace with mine there in that large sanctuary filled with love and grief i prayed with the mourners i sang songs to melodies i did not know i thought about my own father with whom i do not speak and i found peace in that too it's father day and i will celebrate the love of father's for children and children for their fathers i celebrate the man who made me a momma who shows up for our princess who shows up for me i celebrate the men who have fathered me the men who have helped me parent my little girl i celebrate the men who have shown up and the ones who have broken my heart by not showing up all of life is this way the bitter mixed with the sweet i celebrate the life of george the love of his children there in the sanctuary filled with love and grief i prayed with the mourners and sang songs to melodies i did not know and i found peace George Joseph Lissandrello 1938-2010 Keep the angels laughing

I can't believe he's gone - George, who was always so much fun, cracking jokes and making us all laugh and sometimes roll our eyes (though all in good fun, of course)! He really was the life of the party at all our neighborhood get-togethers. There aren't many people like George in the world - a quick wit, fantastic humor and loved belting out Sinatra tunes! But most of he was a truly caring person who was kind to each and every person he knew. I love all of you Lisandrellos and will miss seeing George when I visit. With love, Angie

So many memories. Like the day George returned home from Japan and decided we would eat dinner using the chopsticks he'd brought home that sat on little ceramic fish. Dinner that night was spaghetti and meatballs - need I say more?

George is the most generous, caring, and kind person I know. I will never forget his face who was illuminating the room and his laugh we could hear a mile away! George did so much for me, he was always there for me, and today I am a smarter person because of him. I love him like a father and will miss him forever.

I will miss the contract rummy games at Joyce's. The last time we all played, George and Connie beat the beans out of the rest of us! I send my love and prayers to Joyce and the whole family.

To Joan & family, I'm so sorry to hear about George. I remember many times sitting at your supper table,( we were going to school at St Patricks Academy back then) with him, you, John & your Mom & Dad ( your sister wasent born yet) laughing at his jokes. Excuse my spelling, but when I think of George, I think of "boulevardier", a bon vivant, a lover of life and his family. He also loved music and dancing. That is how I remember him.
